How Clear Values and Principles Protect Me from Self-Abandonment

Cindy Naughton • July 22, 2024

When you know better, you do better!

Within the past several years, I've discovered the profound impact of having clear values and principles on preventing self-abandonment and fostering confident decision-making. This realization is deeply rooted in personal experience, especially when it comes to navigating relationships.

Navigating Relationships with Values and Needs

Picture this: for years, I stumbled through relationships (and friendships) without a clear understanding of my own values. I found myself repeatedly drawn to partners who didn't align with what truly mattered to me. The allure of these relationships often masked deeper issues, leading to cycles of emotional turmoil and disillusionment.

One pivotal moment stands out—a relationship where I felt increasingly unfulfilled, yet unable to pinpoint why. It wasn't until I began my journey of self-discovery through coaching that the mystery started to unravel. With the guidance of professionals, I learned to identify and prioritize my core values. This newfound clarity empowered me to break free from damaging patterns and make choices that honored my true self and worth.

The Drama Unfolds: A Personal Revelation

Amidst the emotional rollercoaster of conflicting values and grossly unmet needs, I realized the power of knowing oneself intimately. Each relationship served as a lesson, highlighting the importance of aligning my choices with what truly resonated within me. By acknowledging my values, I gained the strength to walk away from relationships that no longer served my growth, despite the initial heartache.

How Values Shape Your Life

Understanding your values isn't just about making better decisions—it's about reclaiming your authenticity. When you honor your values, you cultivate a sense of self-respect and confidence that permeates every aspect of your life. This journey is central to the Permission program, which guides individuals through assessments and reflections to uncover their unique values and needs.

Embracing Authenticity with the Permission Program

The Permission program begins with foundational modules designed to deepen your understanding of values and needs:

  1. Permission to Be a Beginner: We start with assessments to uncover your values and examine how these influence your decisions and perceptions.
  2. Permission to Need What You Need: This module focuses on self-assessment and acceptance, helping you recognize and articulate your needs clearly. By exploring past experiences and beliefs, you gain clarity on patterns that either support or hinder your growth.

Take Charge of Your Narrative

By exploring your values and needs, you reclaim the reins of your life's narrative. The Permission program equips you with practical tools and emotional insights to navigate relationships authentically and confidently. If you're ready to embark on a transformative journey towards self-discovery and empowerment, explore the Permission program today and rewrite your story with clarity and purpose.

Even though I spent nearly 2 years earning my Master Coaching Certification with Jai Institute for Parenting, studying Generational Pattern/Communication/ Connection/ Mindset/ Emotion/Regulation/ Boundary and Radical Reflection Coaching techniques--- I still found myself trapped in bouts of emotional dysregulation resulting in indecision, self sabotage and low self esteem. πŸ’” Books, Youtube University and Generic Group learning of the science and the tools didn’t help me fully. It got so bad I was waking up at 3am with a racing heart, questioning if my young daughter would be better off without me and with intense shame that my life was not pristine and perfect. 😒 (Despite how it looked on social media.) All that to say, I know how painful it can be. And, I know what it’s like to be on the other side of it. To be able to say: 😊) I’m free of the mind numbing effects of a lifetime of gaslighting and emotional/verbal abuse. (No, never physically.) 😊) I’ve grounded my nervous system and enjoy full nights of rest. 😊) And, I have a life where I no longer feel victimized, frozen in indecision and afraid of abandonment and manipulation. The best part is I go to bed at night grateful for: πŸ™ How far I’ve come and how proud I know my Mom, now teenage Daughter, Younger sister, Aunties & Grandmothers are/would be of me for healing the legacy of the future Feminine Divine in our families. πŸ™My community: the coaches, mentors, friends, confidants, teachers and family that allowed me a safe space to receive and to give and grow, without judgment. πŸ™The opportunity to build a heart led business based on passion, purpose, permission, personal authority, and power after pain. So, even though there’s a part of me that thinks I’m sharing too much about my life’s work, my deeper truth is that I’m only able to be here authentically like this because I chose to commit and invest in myself via personal development and coaching. Notably, sharing my story isn’t at all about me seeking sympathy—it’s about how I can use that journey to serve others. 🎯 What I want more than anything is to help women who feel emotionally broken, stuck in functioning depression, and wondering if they’ll ever feel connected to themselves again realize that with Consistensitency, Compounded Effects and Community life can have a whole new meaning. I'm proof AND I'm here to help. Have you ever wondered if healing could truly change your life—or if you’d stay stuck, no matter how much you tried? If you (or any woman you know) struggles with a spiraling foggy and confused mindset, shattered nervous systems, and/or recovery from narcissistic abuse– I’d be honored to support you (or someone you care about). 🌻 Life is too short to live without freedom and personal authority.

I can’t believe I’m about to say this, but it’s time to come clean. 🚨 Even though I’ve spent years working on my mindset, healing my nervous system, and recovering from narcissistic abuse… πŸ’” I’ve been downplaying just how transformative my journey has been. πŸ’ͺ Healing feels so deeply personal that I’ve kept many parts of my story to myself. πŸ˜” But I’ve realized that holding back means I’m not making the impact I’m here to make. πŸ”₯ So today, I’m turning the page. πŸ”₯ There are so many women who feel emotionally broken, stuck in functioning depression, and wondering if they’ll ever feel connected to themselves again. I want to show you that healing is just the beginning—you have the power to grow and create a life beyond anything you imagined. 🌟 πŸ’‘ Soon, I’ll share how I found permission, personal authority, and power after pain. πŸ’‘ If you believe it’s time for me to stop holding back and start making a bigger impact, drop me a note. πŸ’¬ Your encouragement would mean the world to me.
